Improbable Warriors

An underwater TTRPG mixed with magic and guilds.

Improbable Warriors is a Tabletop Role-Playing Game (TTRPG). The game is played in person with 1 Dungeon Master and multiple participants, embodying the personas of sea creatures of different breeds. Ever wanted to be a charismatic jellyfish? This is your chance!

This project took 3 months, and as a group of 5. My role in this project was primarily focusing on game balancing, creation of modules as well as polishing the combat flow.

The World: Flamelash

Set in the tumultuous Flamelash, you and your rag-tag motley crew is comprised of sea creatures from diverse guilds. You must unite as one to confront the formidable Molokai City, the oppressive capital at the heart of this world.

Molokai City was built below a meteor which was once crashed into the seabed. The meteor still pulses with energy from its impact, a stark reminder of its otherworldly origins. Not only did this cataclysmic event alter the world’s geography, it also imbued the city with a mystical power. This has turned it into a beacon of both hope and tyranny. Rumors say this mystical power will bring massive destruction, capable of exploding all the Guilds to oblivion.

The Triton is the group who governs Molokai City, harnessing this energy to maintain their dominance. Ruling the city with an iron grip, they have left the city’s resident Merpheans in a state of suffering and despair.

The same great cataclysm that created Molokai’s crater also divided the sea into six distinct guilds, each residing in a different region: Hanshin, Aleutian, Vulcan, Guallatiri, Ruapehu, and Krakatoa.

The inhabitants of Molokai City have long endured relentless oppression from their rulers. This has led to the rise of rebel factions, unaffiliated with any guild. Though they too oppose the tyranny of Triton, other sea creatures are also not exempt from their wrath.
